About Us

Nordic Open Research is a next-generation scholarly publishing platform committed to advancing open science practices and enhancing the  quality, credibility, and impact of scientific research across a global range of disciplines. We achieve this by enabling innovative community interactions, fostering open peer evaluation, and prioritizing transparency over traditional prestige metrics.

Reevalutiong Research Assessment

Traditional academic publishing often emphasizes journal prestige over research quality, leading to practices that can undermine scientific integrity. This environment discourages innovation, as researchers may focus more on navigating the publication process than on conducting meaningful research.

To address these challenges, we advocate for a transformative approach that includes:

  • Open, Post-Publication Peer Review: Implementing a transparent and continuous evaluation process that emphasizes constructive feedback and improvement, thereby enhancing the integrity and accessibility of scholarly discourse.

  • Research-Centric Evaluation: Encouraging scholars to prioritize robust, reproducible, and impactful research over merely aiming for high-impact journal placements.

  • Transparent, Reasoning-Based Assessment: Providing clear, structured assessments rather than opaque acceptance or rejection decisions, fostering a more constructive academic environment.

Our Principles

Our mission is to empower academics, researchers, and practitioners worldwide to share their insights, discoveries, theories, and critical analyses with the global scientific community, fostering meaningful collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue.

We are guided by the following principles:

  • Transparency : Ensuring open peer review and clear evaluation processes that help researchers improve their work.
  • Accessibility: Removing paywalls and publication barriers so that both researchers and the public can freely engage with knowledge.
  • Collaboration: Encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue, constructive feedback, and community-driven research improvement.

By fostering an inclusive and interactive research environment, we empower scholars to share their work openly and engage with a global network of researchers dedicated to advancing science.

Expedited Peer-Reviewed Publication Process

At Nordic Open Research, we are committed to providing a streamlined and efficient publication process while maintaining the highest standards of quality and integrity. Unlike preprints, our process includes editorial evaluation, initial peer review, and professional proofreading to ensure clarity, credibility, and academic excellence. Our goal is to publish your research within three weeks while preserving rigorous scholarly standards

Our Process

  1. Editorial Evaluation:
Our editorial team conducts a comprehensive assessment to verify author eligibility, ensure adherence to submission guidelines, and evaluate the manuscript's clarity and research quality. This step ensures your work meets our publication standards.

  2. Focused Peer Review:
The manuscript undergoes a structured peer-review process to determine whether it meets the necessary academic and scientific rigor. Authors receive constructive feedback, ensuring that any major concerns are addressed before publication. This step distinguishes our model from preprint repositories by refining and validating research before public dissemination.

  3. Proofreading & Finalization:
Our dedicated team ensures your manuscript is clear, concise, and free of errors. Any necessary revisions will be communicated to you for approval before final publication.

This efficient yet rigorous process allows us to uphold academic integrity while enabling the timely and credible dissemination of your work to the global research community. Nordic Open Research is committed to balancing speed, quality, and transparency—so your findings make an immediate impact while upholding scholarly excellence.

Indexing

Nordic Open Research is committed to ensuring the discoverability and accessibility of all published content through robust indexing initiatives.

  • All published articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through CrossRef, ensuring persistent links and traceability within the publishing community.
  • We are actively working towards indexing our publications in widely recognized academic databases, such as Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. Our strategic indexing roadmap includes achieving indexing in Scopus within the next two years and progressing toward inclusion in SCI (Science Citation Index) and PubMed within five years.
  • Currently, manuscripts are indexed in accessible platforms such as Google Scholar, ROAD, and SCILIT shortly after publication. Additionally, Nordic Open Research is listed in WorldCat and ScienceOpen, enhancing visibility and discoverability in the academic community.
  • Within three weeks of publication, manuscripts are indexed in major databases, including Google Scholar, CrossRef, ScienceOpen, WorldCat, and SCILIT.
  • To be accepted and indexed in external databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed, each manuscript must undergo peer review and meet our editorial criteria.
  • Our goal is to continuously expand our indexing reach, providing researchers with maximum exposure for their work and contributing to the advancement of open science.

Commitment to Academic Integrity: Plagiarism Prevention and Detection

At Nordic Open Research, we have a strict Zero Tolerance for Plagiarism policy. All submissions undergo a two-step process to detect and prevent plagiarism:

  1. Plagiarism Detection Software: Before being sent to reviewers, each submission is checked for plagiarism using the iThenticate tool. This helps ensure that all content is original and appropriately cited.

  2. Reviewer Evaluation: Reviewers are also encouraged to flag any suspected instances of plagiarism or unethical practices during the peer-review process.

If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the review or publication process, the manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) may be barred from submitting future work. This policy ensures the integrity of the research we publish and maintains the high academic standards of our platform.

Nordic Open Research provides immediate open access to all published content. In line with our commitment to advancing scientific progress and fostering global collaboration, all articles are freely available upon publication. This ensures that research is accessible to a wide audience, promoting greater visibility and facilitating the exchange of knowledge worldwide.

We adhere to open access standards and our content is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which allows for unrestricted reuse, sharing, and redistribution of the work, as long as proper attribution is provided. By enabling immediate access to research, we aim to accelerate innovation, enhance scholarly collaboration, and contribute to an open and transparent academic environment.

Our platform supports the broader movement towards open science, enhancing research dissemination and engagement across disciplines and geographical boundaries.

Upholding the integrity of this process is essential to maintaining trust in the scientific method and the research community.

We are committed to ensuring high ethical standards for all participants in the publishing process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher. Each party is expected to adhere to the following principles:

  • Authors: Must ensure originality and accuracy of their work, avoiding plagiarism and data fabrication. Any conflicts of interest or financial support must be transparently disclosed. Authors are also responsible for securing ethical approvals for research involving human or animal subjects.
  • Editors: Are tasked with making impartial decisions based solely on the quality and relevance of submissions, without bias regarding authors' characteristics or affiliations. Editors must ensure confidentiality and avoid conflicts of interest.
  • Peer Reviewers: Must evaluate submissions fairly and constructively, providing feedback that upholds the integrity of the research process. Reviewers are expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality.
  • Publisher: Ensures that all published work complies with ethical guidelines and supports the dissemination of knowledge with transparency and accountability. The publisher is also responsible for handling ethical concerns, such as allegations of misconduct, in a fair and timely manner.

Nordic Open Research employs a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality and credibility of published work. By adhering to these standards, we aim to foster a publishing environment that promotes trust, collaboration, and the advancement of science for the benefit of society.

Manuscript Withdrawal and Refund Policies

Authors may withdraw their manuscripts at any stage before the publication process begins. The workflow is as follows:

  1. Submission: Authors submit their manuscript for initial consideration.
  2. Pre-Evaluation: The manuscript undergoes a preliminary evaluation to ensure it meets the basic criteria for consideration.
  3. Payment: Following successful pre-evaluation, authors are required to pay the Article Processing Charge (APC) to proceed further.
  4. Publication: After payment, the manuscript is published on the platform.
  5. Post-Publication Peer Review: The manuscript enters the post-publication peer-review process.

Refunds of the APC are only available if a manuscript is withdrawn prior to publication. Once a manuscript is published, no refunds will be issued, regardless of its status in the post-publication peer-review process.

This policy ensures transparency while maintaining the integrity and sustainability of our publishing operations.
